A Ministry funded transition to school program

Stride, in partnership ACT Learning Centre, Big Words Little People, and Make Way for Me, offers a Ministry funded program in Kingston, which helps to prepare children who are registered in the Ontario Autism Program to start kindergarten or Grade 1 for the first time.

Program stages

Skill-building program

A half day, six-month, group-based, skill-building program focused on preparing children to start school. 

Children will develop school-readiness skills in communication, play, social interaction, behavioural self-management and learning and attention.

Transition supports

Transition supports for children when they begin school.

Consultations

Consultations to support a successful transition for the first six months a child is in school upon request.

Service Fees

This program is free for eligible children who are registered with the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) and have received an invitation to participate in this program. Contact us for more details.
